The Guy Gallery

The Coach House Museum has an established display of horse-drawn vehicles ranging from the heavy vehicles used to establish the Manawatu District through to the social and commercial vehicles used as the community developed.  It covers the historic years of development, 1850-1950.

The availability of the No 38 Bowen Street premises led to the decision to augment the display of farm equipment and to establish an area dedicated to farm equipment.  Farm equipment played a vital part in the transformation of our region from swamp and bush to the productive sheep and dairy farms we know today.

In recognition of the valued service of the Guy family in tracing, retrieving and restoring many items in the Coach House collection, it was decided to recognise this in the farm equipment display, hence the name the "Guy Gallery".

A display of 20 items of farm equipment has been mounted, and includes the largest known collection of Booth MacDonald (BoothMac) farm equipment made in New Zealand, and two wonderful exhibits that have been restored by local enthusiasts.

These two items are the international Harvester Company Reaper Binder and the BoothMac Hay Baler.
