About Us

The Coach House is the home of Feilding's Horse-Drawn Era Museum which opened in 2002.  The display includes a selection of horse-drawn vehicles collected since 1964 through the efforts of The Manawatu Society for the preservation of Horse Drawn Vehicles.  The Society eventually enlisted the help of the Feilding & Districts Historical Society, and their combined efforts, coupled with considerable community support, resulted in the purchase of a building and the setting up of the museum.   The three founding organisations then set up the Manawatu Historic Vehicle Collection Trust (MHVC) which now operates The Coach House Museum, providing an important educational resource and unique visitor attraction for the district.

The museum display also includes an extensive illustrated history of the Manchester Block during the horse-drawn era from 1874 to 1914.  The museum is able to maintain and develop the display and offer a number of related activities through the efforts of a large team of volunteers and continuing financial support from the community.

The Coach House is located in Bowen Street, just one block from the centre of Feilding's Manchester Square.   Just a short walk west on Manchester Street, turn right into Bowen Street and the museum is 50 metre down on the left hand side
